FANE, in cooperation with Dr. Alexander Batthyány, is hosting a seminary in Environmental Ethics, to be held in Sitke, Hungary.
This Year’s Theme
The Religious Roots of the Ecological Future
21–24 May 2026, Sitke, Hungary
Inspired by Lynn White Jr.’s landmark 1967 essay on religion and the ecological crisis, this year’s seminar reopens the question of religion’s role in shaping our ecological future. Moving beyond critique, the seminar explores constructive resources within the world’s religious traditions: scriptural visions, ethical practices, and living communities that already embody alternatives to ecological violence.
The Location
Sitke is an ancient village in western Hungary, set in a serene landscape at the foot of an extinct volcanic hill near Celldömölk. Easily accessible from Vienna, Budapest, Bratislava, Graz, and Maribor, it offers an ideal setting for focused study and conversation. The Farm is a community initiative devoted to the study of Hermetic and Catholic Christianity, Anthroposophy, and—serving as a living bridge between them—Russian Sophiology. It houses the Tomberg Archive and the Belozwetoff Archive, preserving major twentieth-century spiritual and philosophical legacies.
